Restrictions on Downloading from 4shared

Perhaps as a result of the late Stop Online Piracy Act and increased concern of copyright infringement and online piracy, 4shared recently restricted unregistered users from downloading files of up to 100 megabytes. Therefore, unless you are also a registered user of 4shared, you will not be able to download almost all of the zipped files that contain the soundtracks posted in this blog. I discourage anyone from becoming a registered user to access these soundtracks, so I will set up and post new download links from any seemingly reliable, convenient, and friendly file-sharing and file-hosting sites as soon as possible. For now, unless you are also a registered user of 4shared, please download the soundtracks from the MediaFire links.

Also, since almost all of you will only be able to download from MediaFire, PLEASE DO NOT MASS-DOWNLOAD - that is, DO NOT DOWNLOAD GIGABYTES OF FREE MUSIC IN ONE DAY.

The following is rather personal.

It seems I have finally arrived at the point where, to me, this "Shadow the Hedgehog persona / role-playing" nonsense that I have found myself doing for the last four and a half years is absolutely absurd and ridiculous. This "mask" that I have found myself wearing every time I am online is a very uncomfortable burden. It seems, for the past four years, I have separated my self into two components: "virtual" component in the guise of "The Ultimate Life Form" who earned so much "not-even-genuine" fame, and of course, the true, genuine, "physical" component - the nobody who is the brainchild behind all of this trouble. Because of this awkward separation of my self, it is about time that I will throw away this "mask" once and for all and be finally free from the limits it places on my self.

"Adios, Shadow the Hedgehog."

Thus, from this point on, I will not be doing anything radically different. I still will be posting music, videos, and other information of interest in all of my whereabouts in the World Wide Web. Of course, since I am frequently referred to or known as "Shadow" ever since, I still will be assuming that alias (now stylized as "「ＳＨＡＤＯＷ」").

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II - The First Doses of Screenshots

As announced on December 2011, the second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be released this year.

Recently, SEGA officially posted screenshots of the game in its blog. It is a brief preview of the blue hedgehog's next adventure; this time, Sonic is accompanied by his longtime two-tailed friend, Tails.

In addition, look out for the first gameplay trailer at Gamespot on February 23 at approximately 9 AM, Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Updates: November 2011

As most of you have already noticed in my YouTube channel, the first gameplay videos of Sonic Generations have been posted despite that the remaining gameplay videos of Shadow the Hedgehog are still yet to be posted. Until the remaining gameplay vidoes have been posted, brace yourself for an overload of gameplay videos of Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Generations. The two games' gameplay videos will be alternately posted; Shadow the Hedgehog gameplay videos will be posted first, and Sonic Generations gameplay videos will be posted the following day.

Additionally, please note that since I am not completely finished with Sonic Generations yet, expect some delays in the posting of gameplay videos of Sonic Generations beginning with the Dreamcast era stages of the game (Speed Highway, City Escape, and Seaside Hill). Hopefully, I will finish the core of the game as soon as possible in order to post gameplay videos in a steady time flow of every other day, just as it is with the previous series of gameplay videos of other games that have been posted.

Also, most of you have noticed that, in this blog, there is a weekly mini-quiz on testing your recognition skills and guessing the character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series that will appear in the next wallpaper (courtesy of Sonic Channel) for download and personal customization of your computers or other electronic devices.

Lastly, the soundtracks of Sonic Generations (unofficial), the first three games of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic CD, and Sonic The Fighters (Sonic Championship) will be posted on this blog for download for personal entertainment soon.

Sonic Generations Released

As already anticipated, Sonic Generations has been released for PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 in North America, Europe, and Australia. The 3DS version of the game will be released to the same continents in a few weeks. Japan, unfortunately, will get its console and 3DS copies next month.

The soundtrack and gameplay from the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be posted as soon as gameplay from Shadow the Hedgehog is finished. For now, sit tight, stay tuned, and/or buy and play your copy of the game if you haven't done so already.

This Is [Not Yet] Halloween

Let's get away from SEGA, Sonic Team, Sonic Generations, video games, and other things one more time. Additionally, I shall, once again, [somewhat] go out of character.

Several visual kei (or visual rock, a musical subgenre of Japanese rock and Japanese metal) bands collaborated on an album released on September 14 showcasing covers of notable songs from various Disney movies, old and new. One of the songs that caught my attention was the Japanese metal band Sadie's cover of the opening theme of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas," "This Is Halloween." This song caught my attention [not just primarily because Sadie is one of my favorite bands, but] because I have listened to another cover of the song by another metal artist (which seems appropriate) - Marilyn Manson.

If you are curious to listen, then go ahead and listen.

Hello, everyone.

As you can see, this blog is slowly undergoing design construction.
The final touches of this blog's design will come as time passes.

The next set of videos in the primary YouTube channel will be focused on gameplay from "Sonic Heroes" for the Nintendo Gamecube.

As you can see, from this time forth, fortunately, gameplay will be recorded at the highest quality possible via a video capture device and computer software and no longer the old-fashioned way via a regular video camera. For those who are looking forward to seeing gameplay videos without the blurriness and the unavoidable background sounds evident with the use of a regular camera when recording gameplay, your wishes have been fulfilled.

Finally, look out for songs by Magna-Fi from their only two albums "Burn Out The Stars" and "Versechoruskillme" in the secondary YouTube channel if you want to listen to other works done by Magna-Fi.

More About The CPU Control Hack for Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Recently, in my primary YouTube channel, I showcased a hack for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in which CPUs successfully tackle All-Star Mode on Hard difficulty. There is no user input whatsoever except for pressing Start as soon as the CPUs complete a stage so that they could proceed to the next stage in All-Star Mode.

For those who are curious about the hack, I intend to tell more about it in detail under the video's description in detail, but YouTube prevented me from composing detailed descriptions. Below is detailed information about the hack - an extended version of the video's description.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacks - CPUs Tackle All-Star Mode

Kirby and Pikachu tackle All-Star Mode on Hard Difficulty.

Here is a rather interesting, but fairly old, hack for Super Smash Bros. Brawl via Gecko. This hack has the CPU control what is normally under the control of human players. In this case, in All-Star Mode, human players normally battle their way to the end, but with this hack implemented, the CPU battles its way to the end. In other words, this hack is for those who are lazy to complete All-Star Mode with all characters. However, a little user input is required. The CPU cannot proceed to the next stage without you pressing Start, the + button, or the 2 button to go to the next stage once they completed the current stage.

The CPU has a small perk when tackling All-Star Mode. They recover to full health (0%) after completing a stage and proceeding to the next stage.

However, there are some downsides. If the CPU character (if only one CPU character is tackling All-Star Mode alone) or both CPU characters (in cooperative All-Star Mode) die in a stage, the game will not end the battle ("Game!" will not appear) and you will not proceed to the "Continue?" screen, for the game counts the CPU players as part of the CPU opponents in All-Star Mode. In that case, you must reset back to the character select screen and restart the journey again. If you want the CPU to proceed flawlessly, let them play All-Star Mode in Easy or Normal difficulty. Hard difficulty is enough for the faster, top-tier characters that are especially quick, crazy, notorious, and often difficult to fight against when controlled by the CPU at Level 9, such as Fox, Marth, and, as shown in this video, Kirby and Pikachu. (You can also let the CPU tackle Very Hard or Intense difficulty if you are curious to see if they can make it. When I experimented, they almost finished All-Star Mode in Very Hard difficulty, but only almost two-thirds of the way in Intense difficulty.)

Playing alongside the CPU in All-Star Mode is tough, because the CPU really wants to proceed to the next stage, not giving you enough time to recover the damage your character inflicted with a Heart Container in the Rest Area. If you are planning to do this, you might as well let your CPU partner do almost all of the work and stay on the sidelines, brawling a little (unless your partner dies).

Also, since the game counts your CPU partner as a CPU opponent, if your character dies, the match will end, and you will find yourself at the "Continue?" screen.

This hack also works and is effective with some other modes in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In Subspace Emissary, for example, the CPU can be your partner (Player 2) if you wish to play cooperatively. The main player (Player 1) and the partner player can be controlled by the CPU, but the hack is not really effective. The CPU that controls the main player (Player 1) will only will aimlessly jump and run around the level looking for and attacking the enemies that appear in the level. It does not really know how to proceed through the level, but it can sometimes open doors to proceed through the level, especially if there are enemies beside the door. Also, it can throw trophy stands, sometimes pick up trophies, and sometimes open blue or yellow boxes. In short, the CPU is programmed to combat regular enemies in SSE and other characters. It is not programmed, however, to combat bosses, such as Tabuu.

In Classic Mode, the game counts the CPU as a CPU opponent. Without the presence of a human player, matches end immediately after they begin, and stages skip quickly until the final battle with Master Hand, where the CPU has no idea what to do, for it is not programmed to fight bosses.

As mentioned already, since the CPU does not know how to combat bosses, the hack is not effective in Boss Battles. The CPU does not know how to send Sandbag flying in Home-Run Contest and does not know how to break the targets in Target Test. (It only humorously hunts for items in Target Test, if there are items present). Please note that the game can crash if you let the CPU play Home-Run Contest.

The CPU can tackle Multi-Man Brawl. However, like All-Star Mode, the CPU, counted by the game as CPU opponents along with the Alloys and the other CPU-controlled characters that fight along the Alloys. If one (if solo) or both (if cooperative) CPU characters die, the match will not end ("Game!" or "Failure" will not appear), and you must reset back to the character select screen. Scores will only be recorded if a human player is present. Also, please note that the game can crash once the CPU character or characters die or succeed, or you reset back to the character select screen.

The hack can be used in Event Matches, but like All-Star Mode, Classic Mode, and Multi-Man Brawl, the game counts the CPU players as one of the CPU opponents. Unless a human player is present, matches cannot be played. That also means the hack can only be used for the cooperative Event Matches.

Do not use the hack in Training Mode. If you accidentally start a practice match in Training Mode with the hack implemented, you will not be able to exit the match, and therefore, you will have to reset the console.

As with all other hacks for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, NEVER USE IT ON ONLINE MATCHES. IT'S CHEATING, AND YOU MIGHT BE BANNED. Experimenting with hacks like this with friends online may be okay, but don't implement them just in case.

Mario & Sonic: London 2012 Officially Announced

London, for the third time, will host the Summer Olympics in 2012. Among its participants is none other than Mario, Sonic, and their friends and rivals, who, for the third time, will go head to head for Olympic supremacy. In other words, SEGA officially announced Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games, which, like its predecessors, will be exclusively for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

PlayStation Network Offline

Since April 21, PlayStation Network is offline for "maintenance," leaving PlayStation users unable to access online features. According to Sony, hackers compromised the network, leaving the millions of users and their accounts prone to having their personal information and credit card information stolen by the hackers. Early in the problem's investigation, the million-strong Internet activist/extremist group and phenomenon Anonymous was thought to be the suspect, but Anonymous denied its involvement. Anonymous, however, had intentions to attack Sony by attacking its websites, and it had done so through distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDoS), which took down the Sony websites temporarily. In addition, the compromise was also thought to be a response to Sony's lawsuit against George Hotz, otherwise known by his username, GeoHot. Sony sued him for hacking the PlayStation 3 system under copyright, contract, and computer usage-related claims, such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Recently, the issue between the two concluded outside in which Hotz, through permanent injunction, may not hack or "jailbreak" any more Sony products. Returning to the PlayStation Network issue, more updates and information regarding the problem will be provided as Sony continues to do its work on re-launching the network and solidifying its security measures to prevent similar compromises in the future.

Project Cafe

Wii's successor, codenamed "Project Cafe," and often named by the media and the video game population as "Wii 2," was officially announced by Nintendo recently. According to Nintendo, the new console will support high definition (HD) and be more powerful, if not, as powerful as Microsoft's XBOX 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3. Details remain scarce and unclear as Nintendo plans to reveal more about the console in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which will take place from June 7 to June 9.

The newest uploads are from Blue Stahli's self-titled debut album that was just released this month, Chapter 3 of Celldweller's Wish Upon A Blackstar, Celldweller's Cellout EP 01, which was released in January, and Celldweller's "Kill The Sound," which was featured in Dead Rising 2.

Second, Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, visited the SEGA of America headquarters in San Francisco not just for a simple visit, but for something significant that will be revealed later this year.

Third and last, Kevin Eva, popularly known as "ArchangelUK" or "AAUK," left SEGA Europe after four years working there. Despite his departure, according to Sonic City Blognik and the official SEGA Europe Blog, he will organize this year's Summer of Sonic and "probably Sonic Wrecks and other places." Hence, it's the end of an era.

For those who read the Sonic the Hedgehog comics published by Archie, comics that I do not personally read, the upcoming 225th issue has an alternative cover teasing the death of who seems to be a significant character in the comics. It looks brilliant.
